Dropkick Murphys to Perform at XP
Last Tuesday, it was announced that Kanye West was to close CoD XP. I expected that this would be only one of multiple announcements of performances and I was right.
Today, Activision announced that the Dropkick Murphys would perform at Call of Duty XP on September 2nd at 8 PM.
Dropkick Murphys are a punk rock band who started in Quincy, Massachusetts in 1996. They have made seven albums, and their latest is Going Out In Style released earlier this year.

Elite to Support Spec Ops
Some good news for Call of Duty Elite fans and Spec Ops fans – Call of Duty Elite will not only support Multiplayer leaderboards and stats but also Spec Ops’ stats and leaderboards. But first, OneOfSwords talks more about Spec Ops.
Spec Ops Survival mode has been the focus lately, but as with MW2, there are still co-op Missions within Spec Ops, too. There will be a ranking system that tracks your progress through both modes, so you will be able to see if your random partner is as experienced as you are. What’s more, the modes are symbiotic: As you rank up in Survival, you will unlock new Mission modes, and if you score well in the Mission modes, you will unlock maps and weapons for Survival. They build on each other, which is nice. But that ranking system covers both modes — it’s unified, so you will have an overall Spec Ops rank. And that’s totally different from whatever you might wind up doing in the game’s other single or multiplayer modes.
And for the couch co-op commandos, you will be very happy to hear that Spec Ops offers split-screen co-op play. I know to a lot of people who have many gamers but one console in their homes, this is huge — it was a common topic for letters back at OXM among family members with different gamertags but one Xbox for the family. That won’t be a problem for MW3 Spec Ops.
What about split screen in traditional multiplayer, I hear you ask? I don’t know yet — but MP details are expected to be revealed at Call of Duty XP, so I’ll ask again there. This is what I know for now.
Then later, @CallOfDutyElite, the official Call of Duty Elite Twitter account, tweeted that it would support MW3’s Spec Ops mode.
