And finally here we come, well, Escalation actually came early for the PS3, according to JD2020:
…but why should you complain? Treyarch has made this release such a celebration, after the outage of PSN, that every single Black Ops platform is now under Double XP! And Double CoD Points, according to him again, JD2020’s:
Double CoD Points? Double CP, Double XP, Escalation, Nuketown 24/7 = Double the CoD glory. That’s the best and simplest DXP explanation.
Since there was little news, I checked to one of I follow (on Twitter) to find something to put here for today.
IW ‘looks to support’ Dedicated Servers. Now that’s good news for PC gamers.
Infinity Ward creative strategist Robert Bowling said that the developers of MW3 have been considering dedicated servers. Robert Bowling, they said, was trying to ‘reach out’ to the PC CoD gamers…
We had some of the [PC] guys come out to the studio a few weeks ago… We brought them here so they can see the stuff we’re showing off. We’re putting a lot of focus there, to make sure that our PC community has all the bells and whistles. So, the guys that have the powerhouse machines, that they can crank it up and enjoy the game.
Infinity Ward is currently focusing on ensuring “PC users can enjoy the game out-of-box, run it smooth, exactly how they expect,” but they’re planning on implementing dedicated PC features later in the development cycle.
He said that IW & Sledgehammer are thinking about dedicated servers, mod tools and post-launch support, like Black Ops, “In Modern Warfare 3 we added IWnet, which was all about matchmaking – with the plan to eventually add in dedicated servers.”
“My ideal philosophy on the PC is to have matchmaking for the mass,” he added. “Have matchmaking for the guys who just want to jump in, hit play game and start playing. But let’s not lose that dedicated core audience that wants the dedicated server experience.
“We’re looking at ways to incorporate that into Modern Warfare 3. We’ve been listening a lot to our PC guys who have been very vocal since Modern Warfare 2 about what they want to see come back to our versions of the franchise.”
EA says it will knock Call of Duty off the top of the FPS tree. We know that, EA!
In an interview with CNBC, Bobby Kotick responded to John Riccittielo’s claims about Battlefield 3, top of the FPS tree, and all that (Yay!).
He, Kotick, said that if BF3 is a PC-only game (and will lose it’s earnings, A LOT) it would be at a BIG, BIG disadvantage to Call of Duty. He also defended Call of Duty Elite, believing that it would not have a negative impact on the CoD franchise.
And with the PSN outage, “privacy and security is the most important thing we can provide to our audiences.” He also stated that Activision hasn’t had any material losses (Money?) and that video game companies (emphasising Sony) need to put custmoer security and privacy on Priority 1.
