EA & CoD
As you know, Electronic Arts, the creator of the Battlefield series, is planning to get Call of Duty out of the First Person Shooter leaderboard.
It’s actually quite tough since Black Ops earned 650 million US dollars within ONLY the first day.
But EA said how they plan on doing it.
- Timing, timing, timing EA plans on releasing Battlefield 3 during the US holidays.
With Battlefield 3, we believe that we have superior technology and gameplay. We just need for everyone else in the mainstream to know that too.
- Social networking EA hopes social networking will play a big role in… releasing the game. They said that there will be a Facebook tool to unlock special content of Battlefield 3, “turning the Battlefield *FB community from 400 000 to 900 000 in a single week.”
Another key part of our strategy has been to fan the flames and create a network effect with the Battlefield community. The power of social networks is amazing and fun to watch. The TV campaign has jumped-started that effort by enlisting a lot of new FPS fans looking for something new and better.
- Online features EA says that they will add new online features to the Battlefield series.
We’re building an online destination that will not only unify the Battlefield brands, but create a more immersive social network experience for Battlefield players. Whether you’re interested in the Play 4 Free type experience or full on HD console & PC gameplay, we’re investing in a Battlefield portal to ensure FPS fans find what they’re looking for.
Call of the DEAD!
As you all know (well, YOU SHOULD), Escalation was released recently on Xbox Live. If PSN gets back up, probably it will be released hmm… June 5?
Anyway, I decided to go to The Call of Duty Wiki in search for new Call of the Dead info. Well, I was originally looking for the new step to the GIANT Call of the Dead easter egg.
Opening Scene Transcript (singleplayer only, when game is loading)
The screen is black and you can hear George A. Romero speaking.
Romero: I’ve always liked the “monster within” idea. I like the zombies being us. It’s like zombies are the blue-collar monsters.
The lighthouse appears on the screen with a flash of lightning behind it. Zombies start to attack Danny Trejo and Robert Englund and both of them try to fight them off.
Trejo: We’re completely surrounded!
Englund: We’re completely fucked!
Englund is stabbing a zombie with his pitchfork and Michael Rooker is then seen killing zombies with two Sawed-Off Shotguns.
Rooker: Are you girls kidding me? I’ve been praying for this shit! Come on!
A door to the lighthouse opens behind Rooker, and Sarah Michelle Gellar kicks a zombie corpse down the stairs that lead to the door.
Gellar: Boys… let’s get to work.
Action music starts playing and all four characters continue killing zombies. A zombie comes to attack Rooker from behind. Rooker turns around and attempts to hit the zombie on the shoulder. The zombie stops attacking, looks at the camera, and starts talking.
Fake Zombie: For god sakes he missed me again!
Romero: Cut! Are you blind, man?
Romero takes one of Rooker’s shotguns and goes to Englund to demonstrate how Rooker was supposed to knock out the zombie for the movie.
Romero: Like this.
Romero hits Englund in the face with the butt of the shotgun.
Trejo: No jefe (boss), I do it like this.
Trejo bunts the bottom of his machete on top of Englund’s head.
Gellar: I do it like this.
Gellar roundhouse kicks Englund in the chest, knocking him on his back. A zombie then comes out of a window prop.
Romero: Get back to hair and make-up. You don’t look dead enough!
The fake zombie then takes the real zombie by the shoulder to escort it to hair and make-up.
Fake Zombie: Come on, let’s go.
The real zombie throws the fake one to the ground, picks up Romero and runs away with him.
Rooker: That ain’t in the script.
Trejo: We’re writing a new one! It’s called “Slash! Slash! Massacre!”
Englund: This is a real nightmare!
Gellar: Let’s slay some stiffs!
All four characters then engage in combat with real zombies.
Ending Scene Transcript (I actually don’t know when this happens)
Romero: Years ago I did research for a World War II movie. I came across some old Nazi documents. I couldn’t believe what I was reading. Element 115, necromancers, raising from the dead, real creepy stuff. The coolest thing… some of that crazy shit happened right here.
I just called Call of the Dead “the Call”.
The Lightning Bolt is a power-up available only in Call of the Dead. It is obtained by completing the Original Characters Trapped easter egg. The power-up looks like the normal Death Machine but will grant the player a Wunderwaffe DG-2 and the Demonic Announcer will say “Lightning is POWER!” instead of “Death Machine“. The Wunderwaffe DG-2 will last until the player runs out of ammo, and cannot be pack-a-punched. Max Ammo will replenish its ammo. Picking up a Death Machine power-up will cause the Wunderwaffe DG-2 to disappear and be replaced by the Death Machine. Being downed will also get rid of the DG-2.
Secret Song: Not Ready To Die
Oh, just click here. Too lazy.
- There is a picture of the crashed boat and light house in Der Riese.
- When Michael Rooker is taking out Zombies with his Double Barreled shotguns, he shoots all four shots and fires an impossible fifth into the camera.
- On the loading screen, the “Poster” has two tears in the Upper left and right corners. The right is an image of what looks to be a fern whilst the left shows the part of the loading screen for Ascension.
